New York - June 18, 2012: Hundreds of attendees of the 2012 annual meeting of the Southern Baptist Convention (SBC) joined Haim Gutin, Israel Tourism Commissioner for North and South America, Danny Saadon, Vice President of EL AL Israel Airlines for North and Central America, and Dr. Frank Page, President and CEO of the Executive Committee of the SBC, at the first-ever "Celebrate Israel" breakfast this morning in New Orleans.
The well-attended event began with a welcome from Commissioner Gutin and greetings from Dr. Page, followed by rousing musical performances by Robert Stearns, the star-studded vocal ensemble of Seven, and Amick Byram, who brought the crowd to its feet with his soaring anthem about Israel, "You'll Never Be the Same." The breakfast also honored the recipients of the 2012 Israel Faithful Ambassador Awards, including Dr. Page, Dr. Jack Graham of the Prestonwood Baptist Church, and Dr. O.S. Hawkins, President and CEO of the SBC Annuity Board, in recognition of their work in support of Christian tourism to Israel.
"We at the Israel Ministry of Tourism and EL AL are glowing as a result of the warm embrace we have received from the leadership and members of the Southern Baptist Convention," said Haim Gutin.
After the breakfast, the Israel Ministry of Tourism and EL AL also hosted a commemorative ribbon-cutting ceremony, with Commissioner Gutin officially opening the first-ever Israel booth on the SBC exhibition floor.
