ATLANTA, Ga. (Nov. 7, 2011) - The Atlanta-headquartered Southeast Tourism Society (STS) will bring more than 200 tourism professionals to New Orleans for its fall membership meeting Nov. 8-10.

Lt. Gen. Russel Honoré is one of the featured speakers, and Gail Adams, director, Office of Intergovernmental and External Affairs, Immediate Office of the Secretary for the U.S. Dept. of the Interior, will present a check for $330,000 on Nov. 9 to support continued recovery from the 2010 BP oil spill on Gulf of Mexico Beaches.

"STS helps tourism marketers hone their skills to promote visitation throughout a 12-state region stretching from Virginia to Louisiana," said STS President and CEO Bill Hardman.

The meeting's theme, "Jazzing It Up - Tourism Style," will encourage attendees to examine their marketing plans in a general economy that continues to struggle.

One program, "What's Looming in 2012 . . . and Beyond," will feature three tourism experts' perspectives on the coming year. Panelists are Dr. Steve Morse, associate professor and economist at the University of Tennessee; Judy Randall, president and CEO of Randall Travel Marketing, and Berkeley Young, president of Young Strategies.

"Tourism is one of the bright spots in the nation's economy, and we want to keep everyone in the industry focused," Hardman said.

Approximately 30 attendees will participate in a voluntourism project before the main meeting begins. They will work on a beautification project in the Old Arabi Historic District in St. Bernard Parish.

The meeting is headquartered at the Hotel Monteleone.
