Juried Arts Return to Secret City Festival for 5th Year

OAK RIDGE, Tenn. (May 24, 2011) - TN Creates, a juried arts show hosted by the Oak Ridge Art Center, will return for a fifth year to the Secret City Festival. The annual show will take place from 10 am to 6 pm on Friday, June 17 and on Saturday, June 18.

Artists will be displaying their crafts in the Shep Lauder gym inside the Oak Ridge Civic Center, located at 1403 Oak Ridge Turnpike. The show will feature many demonstrations including jewelry, painting, pewter casting, and other crafts by Oak Ridge Art Center members. In addition, Bill Capshaw will be returning for a fifth year to demonstrate Raku firing, which will take place just outside the gym near the flag pole.

Forty artists will have a variety of art on display and for sale including photography, woodworking, pottery, jewelry, weaving, glass, basketry, and cloth toys. Returning favorites include Barbara and Hugh Webb, Randy McCurdy, Judy and George Kidd, Eun-Sook Kim, Joan-Ellen Zucker, Obayana Ajanaku, Peggy Whitted, and Bill Capshaw.

Several new artists who will have booths at the TN Creates Juried Art Show include Bob Walker, who will exhibit lapidary work; Linda Tenpenny and Kathy Smart, who will have painting and collage on display; Sharon Webb, who will showcase papier-mÂché animal sculptures; and J. T. Jones, who will be exhibiting copper enameling.

TN Creates is a free event and is open to the public. Those who purchase items at TN Creates on either day of the festival may leave their purchases at the Oak Ridge Art Center booth inside the Shep Lauder gym until they are ready to leave for the day or until the event closes for the day.
