Brades, Montserrat - July 1, 2009 - Vacationers looking to ditch the norm and cross over into the world of history and adventure can venture to the island of Montserrat and take advantage of the Voyage to the Volcano getaway package. The six day/five night special includes private villa accommodations, adventure activities including volcano watching, boat tour to former capital city Plymouth, diving, snorkeling, kayaking, meals, a five-day car rental, island tours and a day trip to Redonda Island.

Each day will bring a new experience and adventure for visitors to enjoy. Explorers can participate in a variety of excursions that include: a guided kayak and snorkeling tour to Rendezvous Bay Beach, Montserrat's only white-sand beach; island tour with a visit to the Montserrat Volcano Observatory for the chance to watch historic footage of the volcano's eruption, as well as catch a glimpse of the waking mountain from the safest vantage point; a rainforest mountain hike that offers panoramic views of Montserrat and neighboring islands and a day trip to Redonda Island for more diving, hiking and snorkeling.

Additional activities include a Plymouth boat tour that provides scenic views of the island's 13 miles of coastline, as well as an up-close and personal look at the destruction of the former capital city now submerged under ash and mud-flows, a trip back in time to explore the remains of the famed AIR Studios, where music greats including The Rolling Stones, Elton John, Paul McCartney and Stevie Wonder once recorded and a stop at Runaway Ghaut, where folklore promises one sip from the ghaut will guarantee a return visit to the island.

Spectacular views of the Caribbean Sea and the islands of Nevis and Redonda await guests at any one of Tradewinds Real Estate's three private villas offered in the package. With a fully-equipped kitchen, living and dining room, and private pool, vacationers can relax and feel at home after a day of adventure and exploration. One dinner at Olveston House, the private residence of Beatles' producer Sir George Martin that has been transformed into a charming guesthouse and restaurant, featuring authentic English cuisine is included.

The Voyage to the Volcano package is $885 per person, based on double occupancy. For groups of four or more, rates start at $785 per person. The special is valid now through December 31, 2010, subject to villa availability. To book or for more information contact Melody Schroer at melody@divemontserrat.com or call 664-491-2960.

Montserrat, the only country outside of Ireland to celebrate St. Patrick's Day as a national holiday, is a lush green and mountainous island of approximately 39 square miles that lies in the Eastern Caribbean chain of islands. Known fondly as the Emerald Isle of the Caribbean, this pear shaped island is a traveler's paradise for nature lovers, divers, adventurers, family and villa vacationers, and honeymooners. This British overseas territory boasts the spectacular Soufrière Hills Volcano, a modern day Pompeii in the form of its buried former capital city Plymouth, alongside lush, green mountains, world class nature trails, deserted dark sand beaches, untouched reefs and a quiet friendly charm reminiscent of the way the Caribbean used to be.
