· Delta Air Lines Launches Food Sales Test in Crown Room Clubs Customers Can Choose Branded Menu Items From Chili's To Go, Wolfgang Puck and FlatbreadzATLANTA (September 8, 2003) - Delta Air Lines today announced that beginning September 9, it will begin a 30-day food sales test in select Crown Room Clubs in three cities; Atlanta, Chicago and Tampa to offer customers a one-stop, convenient way to purchase meals in the airport. Delta has partnered with HMS Host, a leading airport concessionaire, to provide the meals for this test. "We are continually experimenting with ways to improve our customers travel experience," said Betty Hollan, general manager of Customer Lounge Programs for Delta. "During the hustle and bustle of a travel day, Crown Room Club members can now enter the club, work, relax and enjoy a meal; and not have to leave until it's time for their next flight." In all three cities Delta will offer customers competitively priced food choices including sandwiches; salads; snack items, including chips, cookies and candies; and bakery items like bagels, pastries, Danish and muffins. Atlanta's menu selections will be provided from Chili's To Go, Au Bon Pain and Art of Baking. In Chicago, menu items are from Wolfgang Puck and Corner Bakery, and Flatbreadz will provide all items in Tampa. Purchases are available to Crown Club members and customers eligible to enter the clubs. Delta will accept both cash and credit cards for food purchases. Food for sale is just one element in Delta's strategy to differentiate the customer travel experience at every touch point -- whether on the phone, at the airport or in the air. This summer the carrier conducted an onboard food sales test and at the boarding gate in Cincinnati. Through quality food sales, Delta hopes to increase customer options, convenience and choice. "Our onboard and gate food sales test have been successful," said Hollan. "This success confirms our believe that, by offering the convenience of food sales, our customers will experience greater satisfaction in their relationship with Delta. We hope our Crown Room Club members will feel the same." Delta's Crown Room Club members enjoy a comfortable place to conduct business or just relax before or between flights in 40 lounges in airports throughout the United States and Europe. With a variety of travel services including personalized flight assistance, fully-stocked complimentary bars, high-speed WI-FI internet access, free local telephone calls, fax machines, satellite TV and more, Crown Room Club amenities provide passengers a differentiated travel experience.
