Fairmont Hotels & Resorts' First U.S. Property To Introduce Fairmont Gold

WASHINGTON, D.C. (September 17, 2003) - The Fairmont Washington, D.C. is pleased to announce the introduction of Fairmont Gold, Fairmont Hotels & Resorts' exclusive "hotel within a hotel" concept, bringing the highest levels of service and pampering to the most discerning traveler.

Designed as a unique urban oasis, the exclusive 48-room and three-suite Gold Floor encompasses the entire ninth floor of the hotel and offers exceptional services and amenities designed to exceed the needs of each and every guest. Access to the Gold Floor is achieved via a gold key elevator card, delivering guests to an elegant foyer where they are greeted by polished, friendly and multi-lingual staff dedicated to ensuring a smooth, courteous and efficient registration and a personal escort to their luxurious guestroom.

Marking the first of its kind for Fairmont in the United States, the new Gold floor offers guests a higher degree of intimacy, style and individual attention with such services and amenities as complimentary deluxe continental breakfast, afternoon coffee and tea service upon request, an honor bar with an array of evening cocktail canapés, complimentary high speed Internet access and a private check-in and check-out area. Other features of the hotel's new Gold Floor include three presidential suites, state-of-the-art technology systems, and the Fairmont Gold Lounge, perfect for any corporate or leisure guest deserving of a quiet retreat in which to unwind or to hold an intimate gathering. In the Gold Lounge, guests may begin their day sitting by the fireplace with the newspaper while enjoying an extensive continental breakfast prepared by Executive Chef Daryle Nagata. Black Forest Ham and Gruyere Croissants, Smoked Salmon, a daily Quiche feature, and assorted mini scones, brioche and puff pastries are a just a sampling of Chef Nagata's breakfast fare.

A proper Afternoon Tea is provided daily from 2:00 p.m. until 4:30, which includes an assortment of tea sandwiches, fresh berries with Devonshire Cream, tea pastries and tartlets and a display of loose leaf tea, although, fresh coffee and tea service is always available upon request throughout the day. From noon until 10:00 p.m., guests may help themselves to the full Honor Bar by simply signing libations of choice to their rooms. Chef Nagata prepares a scrumptious assortment of canapés for the Fairmont Gold Lounge from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. nightly. Some of his themed rotating menus include imported European cheeses, pates, truffles, Peking Duck rolls, grilled Radicchio and Goat Cheese rolls and Prosciutto rolls with sun dried tomato and Provolone. Prior to retiring to the comfort of the Gold Floor's luxuriously appointed guestrooms, visitors are treated to evening coffee, tea and sweets prepared by Chef Nagata, and served from 9:00 p.m. until 10:00 p.m. Assorted truffles, biscotti, cookies and Fairmont's signature Chocolate-dipped fortune cookies are a extravagance not to be missed.

The spacious and airy guestrooms were created in rich hues of gold and red, reflecting the lovely colors found in the autumn gardens and landscapes of Washington. The custom designed mahogany furnishings are of a classic international style including expansive workspaces and a bed canopy with recessed reading lights operated by bedside controls. Stylish fixtures and comfortable seating is combined with opulent, dark Italian Botticino and Emperador marble bathrooms. Large feather pillows, terry cloth robes and slippers add to the residential ambience. An enhanced technological environment offers CAT-5 cabling, high-speed Internet access, flat screen digital televisions, and DVD/CD entertainment systems.

The Fairmont Washington, D.C. is the company's first U.S. property to offer Fairmont Gold.
