· XV Beacon Hotel And The Federalist Restaurant Score A Trio Of Accolades In Boston Magazine's 30th Anniversary "Best Of Boston" Issue BOSTON, MA (August 5, 2003) — XV Beacon, the chic boutique hotel on historic Beacon Hill, and its stately Federalist Restaurant have been honored not once, not twice, but thrice in Boston magazine's 30th anniversary "Best of Boston" issue. XV Beacon was chosen as the best "General Excellence" hotel in Boston, while the Federalist was recognized for two of its many standout personnel Sommelier James Flynn and Waiter Mark Edwards both of whom were chosen as the best in their respective professions.
The "Best of Boston" feature, which appeared in the August 2003 issue of Boston magazine, recognized the finest shops, products, services and more throughout the city and its suburbs 350 categories all together. Sommelier Flynn was noted for his "cool confidence" at navigating the Fed's extensive wine list; Waiter Edwards was admired for his "easy smile and gracious hospitality"; and XV Beacon was called "classically elegant (and subtly opulent)," with a staff that "makes service an art form." "It's wonderful that Boston magazine has honored not only XV Beacon, but two of the many impeccable staff members who work so hard to assure that our hotel is the best in town," said XV Beacon's General Manager William J. Sander. "For James Flynn and Mark Edwards to be singled out for their professional excellence speaks volumes of the personal commitment of everyone at the Federalist. And for XV Beacon to be recognized is a confirmation of the high quality of service and amenities we've always strived for." Prominently placed and conveniently located, the 60-room XV Beacon is tucked in a turn-of-the-20th-century Beaux-Arts building on Boston's historic Beacon Hill. Each of the hotel's ten stories has seven rooms with individually designed Italian-inspired decors. Guests enjoy queen-size four-poster beds, in-room fireplaces, high-speed Internet access, 300-thread-count linen sheets, complimentary Mercedes sedan service, and museum-quality artwork throughout. The award-winning Federalist Restaurant and its equally lauded subterranean Wine Cellar are not to be missed. The former beckons with an artistic and imaginative menu incorporating local ingredients, while the latter holds an immense collection of 2,800 selections and 31,000 bottles of fine and rare wine dating from the 1700's to present day. Together "The Fed" and its Wine Cellar garnered the Wine Spectator's Grand Award for excellence in 2001, 2002 and 2003. Rates start at $295 for "Classic Rooms" per night/double occupancy, based on availability. For further information, call 877-xvbeacon, 617-670-1500 or visit the website at www.xvbeacon.com.
