· Aspiring Sleuths Can Deduce 'Whodunnit' During The Murder Mystery Dinners At Reid's Palace FUNCHAL, Madeira (August 18, 2003) - Guests can put their powers of deduction to the test with the special Murder Mystery Package at Reid's Palace in Madeira this autumn. All aspiring sleuths are invited to join in the Murder Mystery Dinners being held on November 21, 26 and 28, 2003.
During dinner at gourmet restaurant Les Faunes in the hotel, a sinister and intriguing sequence of events unfolds. Throughout the evening, actors will mingle with guests, telling tales of double-dealings and long forgotten secrets, culminating in a murder during dinner. Guests are invited to guess the identity of the murderer and as the evening draws to a close, the villain or villains are revealed, making for a most original and entertaining evening. Reid's Palace is the perfect backdrop for this unique event. Opened in 1891, this majestic hotel has played host to a bevy of politicians, royalty and celebrities throughout its long and illustrious history. Empress Elizabeth I of Austria was one of the first guests to visit the newly opened hotel, as was writer George Bernard Shaw, and several members of the British Royal Family. Winston Churchill visited the hotel in 1949 to recover from a minor stroke, work on his memoirs and paint. The Winston Churchill Suite, located on the first floor of the hotel, is still in existence today. The Murder Mystery Package includes a three-night stay in a Superior Room; daily buffet breakfast in the Garden Room, or continental breakfast in guest room; fruit basket in room upon arrival; complimentary mini-bar of soft drinks and beer; one Afternoon Tea on the tea terrace and, of course, one Murder Mystery Dinner in Les Faunes (including beverages). An additional Murder Mystery Dinner or Dinner Dance is also available (excluding beverages). The cost for the three-day package starts at US $736 for a Superior Room. Prices are per person, based on double occupancy. A single room supplement is available. For more information or reservations, call The Leading Hotels of the World at 800-223-6800.
