· Four Corners School of Outdoor Education Introduces Family Fun on the San Juan River
MONTICELLO, Utah - Take your family on an educational adventure this summer - Family Fun on a Redrock River Run and learn Primitive Living Skills on the San Juan River, from August 10-13.

Join Four Corners School in Monticello, Utah, and a playful group of naturalist/river guides to float 27 miles of the Upper San Juan River from Bluff to Mexican Hat, Utah. Learn the natural history of the river corridor through games, stories, and other fun learning activities. Try your hand at lighting a friction fire, throwing an atlatl, painting petroglyphs, and creating split-willow figurines.

The river will take you on a geologic journey through smooth colorful sandstone, awesome limestone, past fossils, miners trails, and Mormon Trails, swift water, and wedding cake walls. There will be lots of time for playing in and on the water. You will have paddle and oar rafts and plenty of fun for the whole family. This camping trip includes 3 days of rafting from Bluff to Mexican Hat, Utah with some outstanding guides and wilderness chefs. The minimum age is seven.

The cost is $695 for adults and $670 for children 12 and under. A portion of your tuition goes to support FCS's other two conservation education programs - Canyon Country Youth Corps, a youth employment and education program and the Bioregional Outdoor Education Project, a teacher training program.

The trip expert is Robin Blankenship who is a mother of three, has an elementary teaching certificate, and has worked in outdoor education since 1978. She began studying stone age skills in 1984 and co-founded Earth Knack which offers expeditions to learn about stone age living. She also co-authored a book called Earth Knack: Stone age Living Skills for the 21st Century.

A complete schedule of all Four Corners School's 2003 Southwest Ed-Ventures ecotourism offerings, including detailed itineraries, can be found on the School's web site at www.sw-adventures.org.
