· Hotel Monaco Washington D.c. Earns Prestigious A A A Four Diamond Award For 2004 WASHINGTON, DC - Hotel Monaco Washington DC has earned the AAA Four Diamond Award for 2004, joining the ranks of North America's exceptional accommodations offering upscale facilities, attentive service and a high standard of hospitality. Less than three percent of the over 30,000 properties approved by AAA achieve this prestigious distinction.
"It is an honor to have earned the AAA Four Diamond Award," states Jorge E. Trevino, general manager of the Hotel Monaco Washington, DC. "This is a testament to the ongoing commitment our team has to provide our guests with exemplary service and immaculate accommodations." Hotel Monaco Washington DC, an eclectic mix of American history and modern American style, is a National Registered Historic Landmark and the first all-marble building in Washington. Robert Mills, the architect of the Washington Monument, designed the building, which was completed in 1842. In 1855, Thomas Walter, an architect for the United States Capitol building, created the design for an extension on the north facade of the building. The addition was completed in 1866, and was viewed, at that time, as the most stylistically advanced structure in Washington, DC. The building, now the Hotel Monaco, initially served as the General Post Office and later housed the Tariff Commission. Guestrooms feature the original vaulted ceilings at extreme heights of 12 feet and more. Showcasing a blend of unique furnishings, the designers mix neoclassic armoires with three legged contemporary desks. With a clever nod to the patriarch of American architecture, a bust of Thomas Jefferson overlooks the guestroom from a position high atop the armoire. The 184-room Hotel Monaco is located at 700 F Street, NW, Washington, DC 20004. For more information call 202-628-7177 or visit www.monaco-dc.com.
