LOS ANGELES - Crystal Cruises is offering up to 25 per cent off brochure rates plus the choice of a low Business-Class air add-on upgrade from just $299 or an additional $750 cash savings during a 16-day Musical Theatre-themed cruise from London to New York aboard Crystal Symphony. The voyage must be booked by July 1, 2003.

Departing August 19 from the port of Dover, the sailing features an overnight in Edinburgh to observe the city's famed Military Tattoo and will also include stops in Torshavn, Faeroe Islands; Reykjavik, Iceland; St. John's, Newfoundland; Halifax, Nova Scotia; and Bar Harbor, Maine.

En route, guests will be able to explore the history of musical theatre at both ends of the Atlantic Ocean - from West End to Broadway - in a series of lectures featuring Jim Brochu, Bill Miller, Ken Fallin and Steven Rivellino. Additionally, round-table discussions, workshops, movies and live performances including Broadway vocalists Michel Bell (Show Boat, Riverdance) and Dale Kristien (The Phantom of the Opera) will be held. Guests will also have the opportunity to meet famed dancer and Emmy Award winner Marge Champion.

Guest Lecturer/Entertainer Line-Up

  • Jim Brochu - as a director-producer, has worked with many of the great actors of stage and screen over a career spanning more than 30 years. His comedies include The Lucky O'Learys, Fat Chance and The Lady of the House.
  • Bill Miller - An expert in the fields of marketing, public relations, and advertising in the Broadway theatre industry. Some of the shows he has been associated with are Les Miserables, Miss Saigon, and The Phantom of the Opera.
  • Ken Fallin - Illustrator and caricaturist. Mr. Fallin has drawn world leaders, sports stars and some of the greatest entertainers. He is most well known for his caricatures for the highly successful Off-Broadway show Forbidden Broadway, and for his celebrity caricatures in The Wall Street Journal.
  • Steven Rivellino - With credits that span the worlds of Broadway, the West End, television, concert, corporate and other events, Mr. Rivellino is the former Vice President and General Manager of Radio City Music Hall in New York, where he has produced The Grammy Awards, The MTV Music Video Awards, and the world-famous Christmas Spectacular. He is currently preparing Scituate to open on Broadway in 2003.
  • Marge Champion - An American dancer and actress, Marge Champion was one half of the "Gower and Marge Champion" dance team. As a teen, she served as the model for the heroine of Disney's feature-length cartoon Snow White and for the Blue Fairy in Pinocchio, and appeared in westerns under the name "Marjorie Bell." She teamed up with actor/choreographer Gower Champion in 1945; they were married in 1947. They went on to appear together in a string of highly popular musical films in the '50s. Later, she created dances for films, the stage and TV. Champion's work as the choreographer for the TV special Queen of the Stardust Ballroom earned her an Emmy in 1975.
  • Michel Bell - On the Broadway stage Bell received a Tony Award nomination for his portrayal of Joe in Hal Prince's production of Show Boat. He has received the Jefferson Award (Chicago) and the Ovation Award (Los Angeles). In 1998 he made his West End debut in London, in Show Boat, at the Prince Edward Theatre. He recently starred in the Frank Wildhorn musical, Civil War, at the St. James Theater on Broadway for which he received an Outer Critics Circle Award. He is especially known for his emotional portrayal of Porgy in Gershwin's Porgy and Bess, which he has performed throughout the world. He was a member of the Fifth Dimension vocal group and has performed with many entertainment greats including Frank Sinatra, Bing Crosby, Perry Como, Sammy Davis Jr., Bill Cosby and Julie Andrews . . . Crystal Serenity's Godmother. Bell will be accompanied by his wife, Catherine Matejka, an internationally acclaimed piano soloist, chamber musician and conductor.
  • Dale Kristien - She has played the role of Christine Daae' in Andrew Lloyd Webber's Phanton of the Opera for a record 1,700-plus performances. She started performing the role on Broadway opposite the original Phantom, Michael Crawford. She has starred on Broadway with Donald O'Connor in the Houston Grand Opera production of Show Boat and has appeared in Camelot, first with Richard Burton and then with Richard Harris. Her television credits include a two-year stint on Days of Our Lives and a number of guest appearances on series and specials, including Knot's Landing and Motown's 30th Anniversary.
