· New Luxury Liner Queen Mary 2 To Feature Exclusive Champagne Bar By Veuve Clicquot
MIAMI - Cunard Line and the world famous Veuve Clicquot Ponsardin have agreed to create an elegant Champagne Bar aboard Cunard's brand new $780 million flagship Queen Mary 2, which is scheduled to debut in January 2004.

The new 64-seat venue will be Veuve Clicquot's first and only venture on a cruise line. Located in the fashionable Mayfair Shops area of the ship, the Veuve Clicquot Bar will feature a variety of Champagne, as well as a menu including caviar and foie gras.

According to Cecile Bonnefond, president of Veuve Clicquot Ponsardin, "We're delighted that the house of Veuve Clicquot will be featured aboard Cunard's sensational Queen Mary 2. We have every confidence that the Veuve Clicquot Champagne Bar will be a superb addition to this great new liner."

"Veuve Clicquot has a rich history and tradition of offering the very finest quality to its patrons," said Deborah Natansohn, senior vice president of sales and marketing for Cunard Line. "We're thrilled that Queen Mary 2 will add to her list of 'firsts,' a shipboard Veuve Clicquot Champagne Bar."

A worldwide reknown Champagne

Clicquot, one of Champagne's oldest and most prestigious houses, sold in more than 120 countries, was founded in 1772 by Philippe Clicquot. His son, Francois, married Nicole Barbe-Ponsardin in 1798. In 1805 Madame Clicquot was widowed and assumed control of the business. The motto: "Only one quality... the finest" is still the foundation upon which Veuve Clicquot Ponsardin has built its international reputation.

The world's best luxury liner

When she enters service in January 2004, Cunard's $800-million Queen Mary 2 - QM2 - will be the largest, longest, tallest and most expensive passenger ship ever built. She will feature sweeping staircases, grand promenades and luxurious accommodations for 2,620 guests; nearly three-quarters of which will have private balconies. Renowned French chef Daniel Boulud is the ship's culinary consultant.

In addition to the elegant Veuve Clicquot Champagne Bar, QM2 will have the first and only spa at sea operated by the world-famous Canyon Ranch health resorts; the world's first and only planetarium at sea; the largest ballroom at sea; the largest library at sea; the largest wine cellar at sea, and 10 different dining venues, including the first and only shipboard restaurant by popular American chef Todd English. There will be several other lounges and showrooms, a two-story theatre, a casino, 5 indoor and outdoor swimming pools, hot tubs, boutiques, a pet kennel, and a children's facility, complete with British nannies.

Cruise the world with Queen Mary 2

In her inaugural year, QM2 will sail 17 transatlantic crossings as she takes over the role currently operated by her sister ship, Queen Elizabeth 2, as Cunard's transatlantic liner. Her maiden westbound crossing from Southampton, England, to New York will depart on April 16. Her maiden eastbound crossing will be historic for Cunard as both QE2 and QM2 will depart New York on April 25 together. The day in New York will be the first time two Cunard Queens have been berthed in the port together since March 1940. The vessel will also introduce a series of Caribbean cruises from New York and Fort Lauderdale; a voyage to Rio de Janeiro and back, timed for Carnival; five European itineraries and two fall foliage cruises to ports in Canada and New England.
