· Visitors Choose Best Of Daytona Beach DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. - Our visitors have spoken! Thirteen Daytona Beach area businesses - including hotels, restaurants, attractions and points of interest - have been selected to receive 2003 Best of Daytona Beach Tourism Awards.
Sponsored by the Daytona Beach Area Convention and Visitors Bureau, the four-year-old awards program recognizes tourism-related businesses that provide superior service to visitors. Best of Daytona Beach Tourism Award winners were determined from the more than 20,000 ballots sent via direct mail and e-mail to the tourism bureau's corresponding visitor databases. This year's winners are: Best Accommodations (Under 75 Units) - Magic Carpet Motel, Daytona Beach Shores. This 44-unit, oceanfront property is newly remodeled and features large oceanfront efficiencies. Amenities include heated and kiddie pools, complimentary breakfast and newspaper as well as free transportation to and from the airport. The motel is a member of the Superior Small Lodging program. Best Accommodations (75 to 150 Units) -- The Palm Plaza Oceanfront Resort, Daytona Beach Shores. This Mobil-rated and AAA three-diamond resort specializes in couples and families and features apartments and suites. Golf and sport fishing packages are available. Best Accommodations (151 to 250 Units) - Inn on the Beach, Daytona Beach. This family-friendly, full-service oceanfront resort features 195 spacious guestrooms, efficiencies, suites and spa suites. Amenities at this Mobil-rated and AAA three-diamond resort include complimentary breakfast, a full-service family restaurant, a heated pool and jacuzzi, a putting green and shuffleboard, and a fitness center and sauna. Best Accommodations (Over 250 Units) -- Adam's Mark Daytona Beach Resort, Daytona Beach. The area's largest resort, the Adam's Mark has 746 rooms and 60,000 square feet of meeting space. Earlier this year the resort received the Paragon Award from Corporate Meetings and Incentive. Best Shopping Experience -- Volusia Mall, Daytona Beach. With more than 100 stores, Volusia Mall is home to both major retail stores and specialty shops. Best Family Attraction - Volusia County Beaches. Volusia County is world famous for its 47 miles of beautiful, white-sandy beaches which span from Ormond-By-The Sea to New Smyrna Beach. In 2002, Daytona Beach was named Florida's Best Beach by readers of Florida Monthly magazine. Nearby New Smyrna Beach placed third in the same poll. Best Attraction (Kids Under 12) - Pirates Cove Adventure Golf, Ormond Beach. This popular family attraction features two challenging 18-hole miniature golf courses. Best Attraction (Mature Travelers) - Daytona International Speedway/Daytona USA, Daytona Beach. Throughout the year, Daytona International Speedway hosts championship NASCAR and motorcycle races including the "Super Bowl" of motorsports, the Daytona 500. Located beside DIS, Daytona USA is the official attraction of NASCAR and features interactive, historical and film exhibits, as well as the new Daytona Dream Laps motion simulator ride and Acceleration Alley. Best Golf Course -- Ladies Professional Golf Association International, Daytona Beach. LPGA International is home to two courses, The Champions and The Legends. Several national golf publications have placed LPGA International on the top of their annual "best" lists. Best Restaurant - Aunt Catfish's On The River, Port Orange. At Aunt Catfish's guests can enjoy fresh seafood and rib dinners or a quiet Sunday brunch along Port Orange's stretch of the scenic Intracoastal Waterway. Best Learning Experience -- Ponce de Leon Inlet Lighthouse, Ponce Inlet. Designated a National Historic Landmark, this lighthouse was constructed more than 100 years ago. At 175 feet tall, it is the tallest lighthouse in Florida. Best Scenic View or Drive - Scenic Route A1A. Visitors enjoy the scenic drive down the area's coast, which runs from Ormond-By-The-Sea to Ponce Inlet. Best Transportation Service - Delta Airlines. Delta offers direct flights to Atlanta, Cincinnati, and Dallas/Ft. Worth from Daytona Beach International Airport.
