· America West Issues Response to Fly Three, Fly Free Promotions
PHOENIX - In response to the Fly Three, Fly Free promotions offered by other airlines, America West Airlines (NYSE: AWA) has issued the following statement:

"The recent Fly Three, Fly Free promotions offered by several other full- service airlines require customers to purchase three expensive fares to qualify for a fourth ticket for free. Customers could purchase three tickets on America West Airlines for the same amount they would spend for one ticket with another airline," said Scott Kirby, executive vice president, sales and marketing. "The bottom line is customers are better off purchasing America West's everyday, business-friendly fares than flying under the terms of those promotions."

Some last minute roundtrip fare examples include:

Other Full-Service
Markets AWA Roundtrip Fare Airlines' Fares
San Francisco - Washington/Dulles $608 $2,598
Boston - Los Angeles $888 $2,506
Dallas/Ft. Worth - Seattle $678 $2,188

In addition, America West's everyday low fares never require a Saturday night stay. The airline's fares also offer customers the flexibility to change their plans to fly standby on the same day for free.

Founded in 1983 and proudly celebrating its 20-year anniversary in 2003, America West Airlines is the nation's second largest low-fare airline and the only carrier formed since deregulation to achieve major airline status. Today, America West serves 94 destinations in the U.S., Canada and Mexico.
