· Wild Dunes Resort Minimizes Rules, Maximizes Fun For 2003 Escape To The Beach With New "Ultimate Flexibility" Stay Requirements; "Island Memories" Recreation Program Packs Every Day with Activity
ISLE OF PALMS, S.C. - For years, Wild Dunes Resort(R) has been known as one of the nation's top family destinations. A full menu of recreational programs, proximity to historic Charleston and a fabulous beach location make it perfect for a summer stay. What on Earth could make it even better?

Well, how about a stay that fits your needs to a tee - ranging from 3 days to 20?

This summer, in response to travelers' desire for flexibility and other concerns, Wild Dunes is offering the Ultimate Flexibility program, providing visitors with 3- and 4-night stay options on selected units for Saturday and Sunday arrivals. Historically, the resort required all guests to book a minimum of 7 nights for all summer season stays.

The Resort's Vice President and Managing Director, Terri Haack, noted: "We recognize that people lead very busy lives, and that the economy is uncertain - a combination that is leading many people to delay travel plans. However, there's nothing more restorative than a family vacation. So offering more flexibility helps our guests make the most of their family vacation this year, allowing them to spend 3 or 4 days at the beach to recharge their spirits," she said.

Recreation Programming Fills Your Days - No Matter How Long You Stay

Commencing on cue over Memorial Day weekend and extending through Labor Day, Wild Dunes Resort's summer recreation program - Island Memories - will kick back into high gear. Ranked by TENNIS magazine as one of the nation's "Top Five" recreation programs, Island Memories focuses on education, physical activities and fun for families and children of ALL ages.

Children aged 3 to 12 are the focus of the resort's Wild Adventures, Duney's Discovery and Li'L Dune Bug clubs - all of which offer structured, age-appropriate fun. These supervised activities also create a window of freedom (or beach time) for parents to take advantage of Wild Dunes' numerous adult recreational and entertainment opportunities.

For teens, there are numerous activities, such as the weekly Tuesday Teen Movie Night, when older kids break away from the family for a chaperoned evening of pizza, drinks and movies at the nearby Palmetto Grande.

Wild Excursions has been a popular foundation of the Resort's recreation program for years. Continually strengthened with input from past participants, these nature-based tours and activities offer guests a variety of options for exploring the great outdoors. Adventures include a pirate-inspired search for buried treasure aboard a sailing yacht, kayak eco-tours led by professional guides, and a guided trip to a secret fishing hole where a good catch is almost guaranteed.

"Our program runs the gamut when it comes to nature exploration options," said Kyle Markgraf, Wild Dunes Resort recreation manager. "We offer an excellent and varied selection of nature tours to fits all levels of interest and experience."

Guests of Wild Dunes enjoy preferred access to facilities and activities by presenting a Resort guest identification card given at the front desk at check-in. Guests are encouraged to book recreation programs when they reserve their accommodations.

The 2003 recreation program can be viewed in detail on the Wild Dunes website at www.wilddunes.com.
