· Blues Brothers to Rock Downtown Reno RENO, Nev. (December 11, 2003) - Downtown Reno presents The Blues Brothers, featuring Dan Aykroyd and Jim Belushi, at the City Center Pavilion Tuesday, December 30 at 9:00 pm.
Bringing their unique Chicago-Memphis fusion blues sound and dynamic show to Downtown Reno's City Center Pavilion, two of America's most beloved entertainers, Dan Aykroyd and Jim Belushi, will don the characters of Zee and Elwood Blues to perform as The Blues Brothers for one night only. The Blues Brothers phenomenon began in the late '70s as Dan Aykroyd and the late John Belushi created the characters Jake and Elwood Blues for performances on Saturday Night Live. The characters quickly became a favorite of SNL viewers and hit the big screen in 1980 in the classic comedy "The Blues Brothers." Following the early death of John Belushi, The Blues Brothers act took a long hiatus. Over the years, original Blues Brother "Elwood" AKA Dan Aykroyd has been joined on stage by the likes of John Goodman and current partner Jim Belushi. More than 20 years after his brother's death, Jim Belushi and Aykroyd have been able to revive the popularity of The Blues Brothers' musical sound and fun-loving characters. Earlier this year the duo released a new album, "Have Love Will Travel," featuring upbeat, danceable versions of sixties and seventies R&B, fast blues, rock, and pop. "These are songs we sang as kids," says Aykroyd. "We're fifty now so this is us recapturing the summer radio memories of places and things we were doing when we heard evocative anthems like "Polk Salad Annie" and "Time Won't Let Me." We'd like people to travel there with us." Reno audiences will have the rare opportunity to hear both old Blues Brothers favorites as well as a sampling of the new music from "Have Love Will Travel" during this one night only performance at the City Center Pavilion December 30, 2003 at 9:00 pm.
