A Crystal Garden, a Gingerbread Santa's Work Shop and a Holiday Package

WASHINGTON, D.C. (December 10, 2003) - The Fairmont Washington, D.C. is offering some spectacular holiday delights this season, guaranteed to make spirits bright.

Upon entering the hotel's festively decorated lobby, guests will pause to view the courtyard, which has been transformed into a crystal garden filled with thousands of tiny white lights, shimmering Christmas trees and over 30 animated Reindeer. Guests can enjoy a cup of hot chocolate or they may order a festive holiday beverage from the cocktail menu, while enjoying this holiday scene.

On display in the lobby, Executive Chef Daryle Nagata and Pastry Sous Chef Mihn Hoang created a 12-foot Gingerbread House. The sugary replica of Santa's workshop is made from more than 1,000 hand-cut Gingerbread bricks, 702 egg whites, 234 lbs of confectioner's sugar, 208 lbs of flour, 117 lbs of molasses, 104 lbs of shortening, 78 lbs of brown sugar, 70 lbs of marzipan, and 3.5 pounds of Ginger. Chef Nagata and his staff spent over 100 hours creating, assembling and decorating the display. Window boxes on the outside of the house are filled with treats for all visitors to enjoy. The gingerbread display will be in place through New Year's Day.

The Holiday Delight Package allows guests to enjoy all of the delights of the nation's capital during the holiday season.
