· Fish & Poi, a Cafe O' Lei Restaurant Opens at the Outrigger Napili Shores
LAHAINA, MAUI, Hawaii (November 3, 2003) - Guests at the Outrigger Napili Shores now have two convenient restaurants from which to choose when considering their dining options. In addition to the casual oceanfront Gazebo Restaurant that serves breakfast and lunch, Fish & Poi, a Cafe O' Lei Restaurant has just opened its doors offering guests a second choice of eateries right on property.

Fish & Poi, a Cafe O' Lei Restaurant is the newest venture of Maui Restaurateurs Dana and Michael Pastula. Nestled in the courtyard of the Outrigger Napili Shores, the Fish & Poi restaurant not only offers wonderful views of the ocean in the distance and koi ponds and gardens just outside its windows, it also boasts a menu of delectable Pacific cuisine that will tempt the palate and soothe any hunger pangs.

Fresh fish, prime rib, pasta and colorful salads are prepared using the freshest of island ingredients. The Taro Salad is made with baby lettuce from Maui's Haiku Organic Farm, Maui taro and sweet potatoes from the neighboring island of Molokai. The Spicy Crab Cakes come with a cool mango-lime dipping sauce. The Seafood Tagliatelle Carbonara is made with jumbo shrimp, sea scallops and fresh island fish char-broiled and presented over wide noodles, with a light lobster cream sauce, saffron, Roma tomatoes and basil pesto. The Mahimahi in Banana Leaves is just that, fresh island mahimahi, wrapped in banana leaves with ginger, lemongrass, ogo, shiitake mushrooms, pickled ginger butter, served with jasmine rice.

Owners Dana and Michael Pastula are veteran restaurant operators. Dana graduated in hotel and restaurant management and has managed such premier restaurants as Hulo'poe Court and Ihilani at the deluxe Manele Bay Hotel on Lanai, as well as Pacific Grill at Four Seasons Maui. Michael has been a chef for over 25 years at various establishments, including La Tour restaurant in the Park Hyatt, Chicago; Swan Court in the Hyatt Regency, Maui; the Beverly Hills Country Club; Sheraton La Reina; and the Lodge at Koele on Lanai. Michael also is no stranger to Outrigger, having served in the past as Executive Chef and Food and Beverage Director for the Wailea Marriott, an Outrigger Resort.

Fish & Poi, A Cafe O' Lei Restaurant is open Tuesday through Sunday from 5:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Plans for a bar are currently underway, along with the addition of "in room" meal service.

Adjacent to one of the island's most beautiful white-sand beaches, the Outrigger Napili Shores on Maui's western coast offers an ideal setting for an island vacation. The grounds are spacious and beautifully landscaped with bright gardens of tropical trees and flowers. Five minutes form Kapalua Airport, the Outrigger Napili Shores offers its guests comfortable studio and one-bedroom condominium suites that are tastefully furnished, each with a full kitchen and private lanai. In addition to the new Fish & Poi restaurant, the property features the open-air Gazebo restaurant, two swimming pools, a hot tub, barbecue and picnic areas and great views of Molokai and Lanai in the distance. Great golf - five championship courses in all - is just minutes away in the Kaanapali and Kapalua resort communities.
