· Woodstock Wassail Weekend 2003 Wafts Whiff Of Medieval World Dec. 12-14 Through Vermont's Green Mountains
WOODSTOCK, Vt. (November 21, 2003) - Vermont's Woodstock Chamber of Commerce is hosting its annual Woodstock Wassail Weekend 2003 from Dec. 12-14 in and around the village green of this historic New England town.

The event- and activities-packed program begins on Friday with a Wassail feast and entertainment at the landmark Woodstock Inn and concludes with the 20th annual community Messiah sing-along at 4 p.m. on Sunday. Included are a seasonally themed musical/theatrical revue in Town Hall Theatre, a tour of Holiday-garbed homes, a "Ghosts of Christmas' Past" walking tour and a medieval-themed equestrian parade produced by the Green Mountain Horse Assn.

The Vermont Children's Aid Society will benefit from a Sunday antiques appraisal. Three historic sites, Dana House, the Billings Farm & Museum, and the carriage house and grounds of the Marsh-Billings-Rockefeller National Historic Park offer family-oriented seasonal programs. Readings from A Child's Christmas in Wales and a concert by the University Glee Club of New York City are also on the weekend schedule.

Throughout Woodstock from Thanksgiving through the weekend there will be displays of themed Holiday wreaths on which visitors can place silent auction bids. The Woodstock Rotary is organizing a tree lighting and caroling ceremony on the Green. Local Christmas tree growers will be open for selecting cut-your-own and carry-home trees.

For additional details please see "Wassail Weekend" at www.WoodstockVt.com or email the Chamber at office@woodstockvt.com, telephone 802-457-3555.

Entertainment and accommodation packages available through select lodging establishments. Two-night lodging packages inclusive of breakfast start at $178. A Wassail activity package at $40 per adult and $34 per child (ages 12 and under) includes the house tour and musical/theatrical revue, both sponsored by Pentangle, the regional arts council.

Woodstock, an ideal hub for exploring wintry Vermont on skis, sleds and snowshoes, is 10 miles off of I89 on Vermont Rt. 4. Woodstock is designated one North America's prettiest towns thanks, in part, to an aesthetic sensibility that years ago sent power and telephone lines underground and to a civic pride that cherishes its historic buildings and nearly 250-year history.
