· Florida's Beach Still Loves Canadians (October 1, 2003) - We Love Canadians is back and bigger than ever. St. Petersburg/Clearwater - Florida's Beach is re-launching the We Love Canadians campaign to show appreciation for Canadian visitors. The original promotion by the St. Petersburg/Clearwater Area Convention & Visitors Bureau featured discounts at more than 20 area accommodations and attractions. This year, participation has grown and potential visitors have even more great deals to choose from.
The We Love Canadians campaign now has 35 area hotels, motels, including several beach properties, and attractions participating by offering special deals to Canadian citizens. The program offers discounts on everything from accommodations to lunch and dinner cruises to weddings. The savings options range from "at par" and 30 percent off accommodations near the beach to buy-one-get-one half-off attraction tickets. The program is scheduled to run through the end of the year, with some participants offering savings through January or longer. The discount offers are available through the CVB's Web site at www.FloridasBeach.com. Prior to their trip, travelers may visit the site to download and print the special offers for redemption. Last year, more than a million Canadians traveled to Florida, contributing over $1 billion dollars to the state's economy, with Florida's Beach hosting more than 300,000 of them. The St. Petersburg/Clearwater area is best known for 35 miles of spectacular beaches, including the #1 rated beach in the continental United States, and record-breaking sunshine. A variety of attractions, world-class museums, sporting activities and nature-related experiences are also readily available.
