Bet On The Willard Hotel To Celebrate The Belmont Stakes In Style

Washington, D.C. May 26, 2009 -- The Willard InterContinental Hotel is hosting an elegant afternoon at the races party on June 6 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., celebrating the 141st Belmont Stakes. The festive event marking the third and final leg of the Triple Crown, takes place in the hotel's opulent lobby. Partnering with Piper Heidsieck Champagne, Plymouth English Gin and Washington Life Magazine, the lobby will be filled with stallions and fillies, dressed to the nines, sipping champagne and handcrafted Belmont cocktails to smooth live Jazz. Large monitors will broadcast the race and an elegant array of hors d'oeuvres presented by white-gloved waiters and chocolate fountains with strawberries sweeten the day, with two Belmont Cocktails, or Champagne. THE BELMONT COCKTAIL

2oz. Plymouth gin
1 / 2 oz. triple sec
1 / 2 oz. raspberry puree
1 / 2 oz. lemon juice
Splash of champagne

Combine ingredients over ice and shake well. Strain into a fluted champagne glass. Add a spritz of Champagne. Garnish with fresh berries.
