New Orleans is Alive and Well. So come on down!

Last week Louisiana inaugurated a new governor – 36-year-old Bobby Jindal, a Rhodes Scholar and the first Indian-American governor in the country. Jindal is young and full of enthusiasm – perfect for a state that has been devastated by Katrina and its aftermath. But his timing could not be better: there’s lots going on in the state right now, especially in New Orleans, which in the past month held three college bowl games.
If you haven’t been to New Orleans for a while, you’re in for a treat. Bourbon Street is alive and well, thank you, and full of fun, frolics and fascination. The city now has more restaurants (881) than ever before. And tourism areas such as the French Quarter, Warehouse and Arts District, Magazine Street and Garden District, with renovated hotels and sites, are better than ever. After a recent trip there, we’re full of praise. And maybe a little sorrow for those of you who are missing out by not traveling there. ...More
