    (BAYFIELD, WI) From the crest of the hillside orchards to the rocky shore of Lake Superior, Mother Nature has become an Impressionist painter, dotting the Bayfield, Wisconsin landscape-seascape with a colorful palate of buds, blossoms and blooms.

    Bayfield, celebrating its Sesquicentennial in 2006, presents the fourth-annual "Bayfield in Bloom" celebration starting May 12 and running through June 18, 2006. Visitors are invited to bring cameras, appetites, shopping bags and note pads as numerous activities focus on gardening, plants, sales and the abundance of nature in Bayfield.

    Some of the events include:

    ¨ May 12,- LIVE STATEWIDE RADIO SHOW Kicking off the spring celebration will be Larry Meiller, Wisconsin Public Radio's gardening expert, who will broadcast "Garden Talk" live at the Bayfield Pavilion on May 12. Joining Larry will be a number of gardening experts who can answer questions and share their skills with attendees. This event is free to the public and begins at 10:30 AM.

    ¨ June 18 - BAYFIELD - THE BLESSING OF THE FLEET - History comes to life with a traditional Blessing of the Fleet ceremony at 1pm Sunday June 20 on the town pier in Bayfield. Commercial fishing boats, tugs, powerboats, sailboats, excursion and transportation craft, and rowboats parade through Bayfield's City Harbor. As they pass by the tip of the pier, clergy from the Apostle Islands community grant each vessel a blessing for safe passage and a prosperous season on Lake Superior.
