CTO Foundation To Host Awards Dinner Feb. 10th To Honor Past Chairs, Major Contributors
New York City's Famed Copacabana will be Location of Fundraising Event
NEW YORK, NY (Jan. 6, 2006) - The Caribbean Tourism Organization (CTO) Foundation will honor past chairmen and major contributors to the CTO Foundation and the Audrey Palmer Hawks Memorial Scholarship Fund at the CTO Foundation Cocktail Reception, Auction & Awards Dinner to be held Feb. 10, 2006, beginning at 6:30 pm at the Copacabana in New York City. Proceeds generated from the auction and dinner will go towards educational scholarships for Caribbean nationals interested in pursuing careers in the tourism industry.
The gala event will recognize those individuals and companies who have been instrumental in donating their time and money to the CTO Foundation, which has provided over 90 scholarships and study grants in the amount of US$500,000 since 1998. Honorees include the following:

The evening's festivities kick-off at 6:30 pm with a cocktail reception and auction in the Carmen Miranda Room at the Copacabana. Dinner and the awards presentation commences at 8 pm in the Copa Ballroom. Guests can enjoy the Copa Nightclub afterwards.
Guests can purchase tickets for the Cocktail Reception and Auction which are $75 per person OR for the entire evening's program including the Cocktail Reception, Auction, Dinner and Awards Presentation which are US$225 per person or US$2,250 for a table of 10. CTO Foundation - Developing Future Leaders For Caribbean Tourism
The CTO Foundation is a not-for-profit corporation, registered in the State of New York, formed exclusively for charitable and educational purposes under section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code of 1986.
The Foundation provides financial assistance to Caribbean nationals, who demonstrate academic excellence and leadership potential and are interested in a career in the tourism industry. Study grants are provided to persons studying at any level of certification and full scholarships are provided to persons studying at a post graduate level. In a typical year the Foundation awards 10 study grants and three scholarships.
Devoid of any endowments and functioning without an impressive Wall Street investment portfolio, the Foundation relies fundraising events and the support of a few major corporations and CTO strategic partners. The Foundation is managed by a volunteer Board of Directors, comprising private and public sector individuals.
The Caribbean Tourism Organization
The Caribbean Tourism Organization (CTO), with headquarters in Barbados and marketing operations in New York, London and Toronto, is the Caribbean's tourism development agency and comprises membership of 32-member governments and a myriad of private sector entities.
The CTO's mission is to provide to and through its members, the services and information needed for the development of sustainable tourism for the economic and social benefit of the Caribbean people. The organization provides specialized support and technical assistance to member countries in the areas of marketing, human resource development, research and statistics, information technology and sustainable tourism development.
